How to choose software for a clinic with multiple practitioners
For a practice with multiple practitioners, software selection depends on how appointments, patient records, documents and responsibilities fit together. Bring concrete workflows to the demonstration.
Start with a complete working day
Choose a typical case: booking, rescheduling, preparing for a visit, documentation and related administration. For each step, identify who performs it, what information they need and what they pass on.
Walk through that process during the demonstration. A feature name alone reveals less about how a clinician, assistant and reception team work together.
Five questions to ask during a demonstration
| Topic | Question |
|---|---|
| Appointments | What happens when an appointment must move to another practitioner or room? |
| Access | What can a clinician and an administrator each see about the same case? |
| Documents | How can a previous document be found and linked to the right patient? |
| AI support | Which data produces a suggestion, and how can the result be checked? |
| Operational review | Which summaries can a manager open from day-to-day data? |
Treat data transfer as a separate task
An export from the existing system may not contain everything required in the new one. List the data to transfer, identifier mappings and the relationships between documents and records.
The verification plan should include record counts, comparison of selected records and a way to handle missing information. Use appropriately prepared test data for the demonstration.
Include a launch plan in the decision
An IntelMed clinical demonstration can apply these questions to your practice. The agreed scope of data transfer and system connections follows that discussion.
- Who will agree services, work schedules and templates?
- What training will each staff group receive?
- How are problems reported, and who responds during launch?
- What must be true for the first implementation stage to be complete?
